Group Major Medical
Group major medical is designed for employers who have as few as two full-time employees (listed on their quarterly tax and earnings statement) and may want to offer their employees a benefit plan. A percentage of premium is paid by the employer with the remaining percentage paid (through payroll pre-tax deduction) by the employee.
Most employers will offer, at the minimum, medical coverage under an HMO (Health Management Organization) or PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) plan. Many employers also provide a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) plans to help their employees contain health costs.
